Kachana Station / Faraway Bay Experience.

This journey begins on the remote outback Kachana Pastoral Station and finishes at the beautiful and isolated coastal camp, Faraway Bay. This experience will take you on an educational cultural and rock art journey through time. The tour is focused on Aboriginal Culture, Rock Art including the magnificent Bradshaw paintings, Aboriginal medicinal and bush food plants, bush walking, isolation and nature. The Kachana Eco Cultural Experience.

jujut.jpg - 3373 Bytes Join Ju Ju 'Burriwee' Wilson at our Cleanskin Camp on Kachana Pastoral Station for one of the most unique and remote cultural experiences found in the Kimberley. Ju Ju, a Mirriuwong elder, provides the visitor an opportunity to learn about native bush foods and medicinal plants. Co-author of a number of research publications, Ju Ju's knowledge and her willingness to share this information, provide a truely fascinating and educational experience. Cleanskin Camp is located within an area rich in Aboriginal history. Ju Ju will take you to a number of ancient Aboriginal living area's, and if your time allows, also visit some of the rock art sites around the area.

Kachana Pastoral Station Kimberley Adventure.

For those with little time to spare on their Kimberley visit, why not overnight with us on Kachana Pastoral Station. This option provides an opportunity for you to fly over Lake Argyle and the Bungle Bungles and many other magnificent geological icons of the Kimberley. Spend the night under the stars in the remote Durack Stock camp, located in the majestic Durack Ranges.

A Kachana Bird watching Experience.

The diverse habitat systems within walking distance of your camp range from creek and swamp systems to open savanna, woodland, sub-tropical refugia and gorge systems. These various ecological systems ensures the keen watcher will see a broad range of bird species. Steve is an expert on Kimberley bird calls and species habitats.

The 3 Day 'Plan your own Experience'

The camp offers peace and tranquillity and your days can be planned around nature walks and bird-watching, exploring and swimming remote gorges, freshwater fishing (restricted) learning about bush foods and bush medicines with an Aboriginal guide, exploring the archaeological and historical past of the area with resident archaeologist or even assist with any of the research or resource management projects that may be in place at the time of your visit. Kachana Stock Camp and Cattle Drive.

Follow the herd on foot, along the old Bedford Stock Route valley, as the herd is used to revitalise the landscape, by pruning, mulching and fertilising. This creates healthier vegetation, more effectively able to capture rain. This nomadic lifestyle offers long and tranquil days, spectacular countryside and unique geological formations, swimming, a comfortable swag and long glorious nights under a Kimberley star-filled night, sumptuous open camp-fire meals and an opportunity to learn from your experienced guide, stories of the early pastoral industry and the general history and archaeology of the area. More significantly, the participant is given an opportunity to be proactive in land-care and resource management, in the remote Kimberley out-back.


Spiritual Artistic Retreat

Spend six glorious days painting some of the most geologically stunning landscapes in the Kimberley. You can paint gorges, waterfalls, the magnificent Durack Range, ancient boabs or quiet restful streams all within walking distance of the camp. Begin or end your day with massage and meditation. Your camp team would include an Aboriginal artist, spiritual healer, camp cook and a general specialist tour guide. As well as the palette you bring with you, Kachana supplies some of the richest varieties of natural ochre's and clays in the Kimberley. This experience provides a profound insight into the environment we live in. We also use Kachana's natural ochre and rich natural clay, to creatively express ourselves during this time. There is plenty of time for swimming in pristine gorges and waterfalls & generally just to relax in this awesome remote location. Your guides for this experience includes an Aboriginal guide and a spiritual healer. The eco-friendly solar powered "Cleanskin" Bush camp is your base for the duration of this beautiful experience.
