Kachana Station has a rich history of human activity, providing the perceptive visitor a unique insight into Aboriginal culture; early European explorers and settlers; intrepid Afghan Camel drivers, and the pastoral industry and its history through to the present day. Kachana Station can offer a number of experiences and options. For the artist, there is the opportunity to make use of the natural ochre's and other mediums produced by mother nature, and paint some of the most magnificent gorges and scenery found in the Kimberley. For those people looking for an alternative lifestyle experience, Kachana offers the opportunity to experience body and soul food, massage, reiki and other therapies in a natural retreat environment. And for the academic minded individual, there is the opportunity to participate and assist researchers in ongoing field work and scientific expeditions. |
Kachana Station offers one of the most exciting and unique 'environmental' experiences anywhere in the Kimberley. Located south of El Questro Station and is accessed only by air, or, organised walking expeditions. Kachana Station has been operating pro-actively towards better land care principles and a holistic approach to managing the environment is used, working towards rangeland and general landscape revitalisation. Kachana's motto is, "working with nature." Within the cost, every visitor contributes an 'enviro' levy of $25.00 per person per day. This levy goes towards the Kachana Pastoral Company's resource management projects. This fee is Kimberley Specialists commitment and support to the resource and environmental management programs in place on Kachana. With the promotion of environmental literacy, visitors are also given the opportunity to participate in some of the holistic land management activities that the Henggeler family have been practicing for over 10 years. |
